This month we’re finding out more about Steve Summerton, our Operations Manager for our Networks & Infrastructure division.
In a few sentences, summarise your role
Planning and implementing my team to various construction sites and commercial properties to ensure we deliver on time and on budget. Designing systems to each client’s different requirements and delivering them.
What does a typical day look like for you at work?
Meetings with Project Managers/on site Engineers and Engineer diary/materials management for ongoing and upcoming projects. Tracking job progress against expected schedule. Assisting with any technical queries that arise on site. Meetings with customers Providing quotes for colleagues and customers. Making sure we have up to date RAMS. Lots of small bits to make sure everything runs as smooth as possible.
What is the most difficult challenge you have been faced with in your career?
Transitioning from engineer to manager. It was a steep learning curve which wasn’t easy but definitely worth doing. This was one of the reasons I joined Dynamic as they like to train within the company and allow you to rise through the ranks.
What would you say to anyone who was considering applying for a job at Dynamic?
Go for it. If you are willing to put in the hard work you will be rewarded.
What’s your favourite project you have worked on and why?
I Don’t really have a favourite project. Now that I am not the one installing I gives me great satisfaction when engineers that myself and others at Dynamic have trained complete a project.
How do you like to recharge or take a break?
I like to go on a bike rides with my family and also like to play Golf with my friends. Eating out and beer gardens when allowed.
